HOW COACHING WORKS
True North Coaching asks for an initial 4-month commitment. Change takes time and experience has shown that a 4-month period allows for substantial change. The commitment is to yourself, not to the coach. After that initial four months you are invited to maintain or change the frequency of the coaching.
Complimentary Introductory 15 minute Phone Call
Please request an Introductory Phone Call. You can ask your questions about coaching and your coach and share a bit about yourself and what you are looking for in a coaching partnership.

Complimentary 60 minute Coaching Session
A good match is paramount to the success of the coaching. The Complimentary Coaching Session allows you to experience coaching and for both of us to assess our alignment with goals, values and personality. You will be given an assignment to complete within the next 7 days and there is no pressure to decide about coaching by the end of the call.

Welcome Package / Assessments & Questionnaires
When we have agreed that our partnership will be exciting, focused and unstoppable you will be sent a link to create an online account in my scheduling app. I will send you a link for assessments and questionnaires, a payment schedule and options for a Discovery Session and a regular coaching time.

Discovery Coaching Session • In person or zoom session
Each coaching partnership begins with a 2–3 hour in person Discovery Session. If in-person is not possible the session is via ZOOM which is very effective and just as powerful. The Welcome Package assessments and questionnaires are reviewed and clarified so that each area of your life is explored: career, education, physical health, mental health, family, friends, spirituality, recreation, finances, values, vision, habits, what’s working and what’s not. Strategies and timelines are discussed and an initial agenda is set. Clients leave the session with a list of values, common obstacles, goals and first action steps.

Regular Coaching Sessions • Three 40-minute phone or zoom sessions per month
The four month commitment is not to the coach but to you, the client. You are committing to focus on you, your life, your work, your relationships, your health or whatever you feel needs attention. These 12 sessions are spaced out as three 40-minute sessions per month. A significant part of coaching’s success is the structure of regularity. You determines the agenda; sometimes to strategize about something or sometimes to learn more about how you live and function so you can make adjustments. Laura is committed to the idea that every session needs to include self-discovery, action and fun.

Completion
Many clients come to coaching with a specific agenda to complete within the four months. Others start with the four month commitment and begin to see coaching as essential to keeping on track and want to keep going. Other clients reduce the frequency and have monthly check-in calls. And even others want to have the flexibility to book calls when needed. All in all, after the initial four months, we can create the coaching partnership to be what you need it to be.
